DANCE AND PERFORMANCE STUDIES MINOR

Confirming the Minor

Confirm your intention to minor after enrolling in at least one course in the Department. Transfer students determine if previous courses will transfer into the minor by bringing unofficial transcripts and course descriptions to Michael. It is rare that other courses transfer into the minor because comparable coursework is seldom found. Since your minor will be from the Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies Department, expect to do most of your minor coursework here.

•  Only letter-graded courses (with a C- or better) will be accepted in the minor.
•  At least one upper division Modern Dance technique course must be taken.
•  We encourage you to take at least one Performance Studies or choreography course.
•  Courses with identical course numbers may only be counted twice toward the minor.
•  Your coursework should express a clear focus.
•  Please see the Department's Undergraduate Handbook for further information.

Requirements

Lower Division:

Choose one of the following courses:
* 40A/B Beginning Modern Dance Technique (1)
* 52AC Reflections of Gender, Culture and Ethnicity in American Dance (3)
* 25AC The Drama of American Cultures (4)
* 26 Introduction to Performance Studies (4)
* 60 Stagecraft (3/4)

Upper Division:

Additionally, Five upper division courses (three of which must be taken in the Department) are required. A GPA of 2.0 must be maintained in the upper division units for the minor. Course choices must be advisor-approved.
